I’m timothy, nice to meet y’all.
I’m Timothy; originally from Ontario, Canada, I moved to Australia more than 15 years ago, arriving with nothing but a suitcase and my Gibson. Since then, I’ve been slowly collecting effects pedals, and it’s become something of an obsession.
Music has always been my focus, and by the time I reached my teens in the late 90s, I was making “narrated mixtapes” by recording my voice and snippets from VHS movies in-between tracks. I was fumbling my way through recordings songs I’d written, layering takes by mixing-down (destructively, hissssssss…) between two cassette tapes. That hobby led me to study Audio Engineering at OIART, after which I spent most of my 20s working in Toronto recording studios as an assistant, manager, and composer.
When I left Canada, I left behind my recording career, and moved into tech, where I’ve written documentation for software companies and created tutorial videos. These days I’m still in tech as a Product Owner, translating business requirements back and forth between engineers and executives.
I never really connected my “day job” skills — breaking down complex technical information into easier terms, solving real-world problems with technology — with my lifelong love of audio gear. Not until 2024 when I was randomly invited to work with Chase Bliss at some events here in Australia, essentially helping people to demo the gear.
It was the most fun I’ve ever had at “work”. Eight hours behind a pedalboard with the founder of my favourite company, helping fellow musos dial in some surprising and beautiful sounds, explaining the complex stuff (looking at you, Habit and MOOD), and watching the sparkle of delight appear in their eyes.
That’s why I started making videos. I want to keep finding that satisfaction of sharing my obsession. I want to prove that advanced features don’t have to feel “too hard”. Tell me what you’d like to see videos about, and I’ll take it into consideration. MIDI basics? Specific pedals? Demos with more than just a guitar going through pedals?
Coming soon: deep dive video on pedals from Zorg Effects, Echo Fix, Chase Bliss, Poly Effects, Pirate MIDI, and more.
